The Eglet Center for Advocacy & Dispute Resolution at the sky casino genting McGeorge School of Law—recognized as one of the nation's top advocacy and dispute resolution programs—is getting substantial support to further its work through a generous gift.

Regent Robert T. Eglet ’88 and Tracy A. Eglet have committed $5 million to establish a new endowed faculty chair focused on moot court, a competition for jury trial articles and an endowment to support jury trial speakers. It also provides funding for a program manager and creates an endowment to sustain the center's ongoing initiatives.

“Trial law has been the driving force of my career, and it’s deeply fulfilling for me to support McGeorge’s nationally ranked advocacy programs,” Eglet said. “I’ve seen firsthand how preparation and real-world experience can shape a trial lawyer. As someone who has spent decades in the courtroom fighting for what’s right, I understand the immense value of practical training for law students.

“Jury trials are becoming increasingly rare, but they remain a cornerstone of our justice system. By giving students hands-on experience, we not only build their confidence but also ignite their passion for trial work. It’s my hope that this next generation of lawyers will continue to champion justice in the courtroom, carrying forward the tradition that has defined my life’s work—and began at McGeorge.”

This is the second time the Eglets have provided transformative funding to the law school. In 2021, the Eglets made a historic $25 million gift. The gift created scholarships for first-generation students, a fund in support of competition teams and endowed chairs at the law school's advocacy center. The center was renamed the Eglet Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution in the couple’s honor.

McGeorge’s moot court program was ranked No. 9 nationally in 2024 by the Blakely Advocacy Institute at the University of Houston Law Center. U.S. News & World Report ranks McGeorge No. 16 nationally in trial advocacy and No. 18 for dispute resolution.

Michael Hunter Schwartz, dean of McGeorge School of Law, said he deeply appreciates the Eglets for their continued support of the law school.

“This generous gift will have a transformative impact on our advocacy programs at McGeorge,” Schwartz said. “The gift enhances our ability to provide law students with the hands-on, real-world training they need to excel as trial advocates and ensure the center’s initiatives will continue to thrive.”

Pacific President Christopher Callahan values the Eglets recognition of the importance of supporting law students and the future of legal education.

“We are incredibly grateful for this gift, which creates more opportunities for students to get real experience—an essential part of a Pacific education,” the president said. “Our McGeorge School of Law students go on to have incredibly successful careers, and its thanks in part to generous alumni like Regent Eglet who are committed to giving back to Pacific.”

Eglet heads the trial team at Eglet Law in Las Vegas and is the lead trial counsel on all major cases. As one of the nation’s most successful trial attorneys, Eglet has earned his clients billions of dollars in verdicts and settlements.

Earlier this year, he achieved a record-breaking $3.1 billion verdict against Real Water, Inc., a Las-Vegas based bottled water company, after a jury found the company liable for product defects that caused severe health complications.

He also represented the plaintiffs in the 2017 Las Vegas Strip shooting, securing a  from MGM Resorts to more than 4,400 relatives and victims of the shooting.

Eglet joined the sky casino genting Board of Regents in July 2024.

“This gift is a profound expression of the Eglets’ love for McGeorge, their passion for education and their unwavering belief in our law students' ability to make a lasting impact through advocacy,” Schwartz said.
